John 16:13 Bearing Much Fruit of the Spirit

The purpose of a vineyard is to bear fruit. The vineyard owner knows what varieties of grapes he wants to grow and what he will do with them. So it is with God our Father and His true vine Jesus, with us as the branches. His purpose is for us to bear much fruit.

Jesus’ illustration of us as the branches abiding in Him as the vine was the centerpiece of His message about His departure and sending of the Holy Spirit.

Let me put it this way: the vine and branches are an illustration of the indwelling Holy Spirit who produces fruit in our lives for the glory of God.

In my lecture, I’ll explain the connection between John 15 and Galatians 5:22-23. But there’s more fruit of the Spirit than just the list found in Galatians 5:22-23!

I’ll share 6 different categories of fruit that the Holy Spirit produces in our lives. We don’t have to wait until the fall harvest for these fruits to be shared and enjoyed.

Everyday of our lives should be a “fruit of the Spirit festival”! (That will make more sense after you hear the opening comments of my lecture!)
