About Jesus

And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.   Luke 24:27

The Bible tells us about Jesus. He is the Messiah – the Christ.

Jesus has existed eternally as God the Son. (John 1)

Jesus is God, who became flesh and dwelt among us. (John 1:14)

This is mind-boggling – Jesus has two natures – that of man and that of God, and yet He is one person.

And this God-man, who called Himself  “Son of Man” to emphasize His identification with mortal man, was absolutely sinless. He was conceived in Mary by the Holy Spirit and did not inherit the sin nature that each of us inherited from Adam.

The greatest action that demonstrated both His human and divine nature was His work on the cross, when He became the substitute for each one of us. He took on the sins of the world in our place, He received the entire wrath of God in our place, and He experienced separation from God in our place.

It should have been me! I deserve the punishment. I committed the sins. Not Jesus.  But Jesus gave Himself as a substitute for me so that I could be forgiven, redeemed, set free, reconciled, and adopted.

Because of Jesus’ humbling of Himself, and His obedience to the will of His Father, God has highly exalted Him. The name of Jesus is above every other name. Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords… forever.
