Rejection or Reception of Jesus. It all comes down to this. What is your response to Jesus?
In his gospel, Luke emphasizes the identity of Jesus as the Messiah – the King of Israel. In Luke 23:26-43, as Jesus is led to the cross and crucified, two responses to Him are contrasted. Women are weeping and they represent the Jews who rejected Jesus. The repentant criminal on the cross is one who receives Jesus.
We learn from Jesus’ responses that rejection brings judgment and reception brings joy.
In my lecture, I explain the prophetic background of these passages as well as what the future holds, and even talk about life after death. There’s quite a lot of ground to cover!
All the prophecies are guaranteed. There is much to look forward to for those who have received Jesus as their Savior and King.
But the best thing of all is what we learn from what Jesus said to the criminal on the cross. Salvation is a free gift, and it’s all about being with Jesus. Even when we are suffering here and now in this life, Jesus is present with us through His Holy Spirit.
