Psalm 19 – Enjoying God’s Word

Nature shows us the Lord and even more perfectly does His word reveal His character, ways, power, and plans – all of which are good for us as humans who need : restoration… wisdom… instruction… joy… an eternal perspective… and something which is an absolute – a true, right standard – by which we can judge ourselves.

As God reveals Himself and His ways – we will find ourselves lacking just as David did. We need to be warned of sin, to be convicted of sin, to find that we fall short of the glory of God, to find that we need forgiveness.

Psalm 19 tells us that God’s Word does this for us.

NAS Psalm 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul;

The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

 8 The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart;

The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

With these four phrases we see what the word of God does for us: it turns us from brokenness and sin back to God… It makes us grow up by showing us how to live God’s way… It gives us joy as it puts us on the right path… It gives us insight for living.
