Ephesians 6:24 – Last Words

My Post(33)

If someone asked you what the letter to the Ephesians is about – do you know what would you say?

We’ve studied many themes in this book and have seen them repeated throughout the letter.Let me give you a count of the times that some of the words were repeated:

Blessings: 3   Gentiles: 5    Riches: 6    Mystery: 6     Peace: 7    Grace: 12      Power: 13

But the one theme that is repeated more than any other is LOVE : 17 times

Based on a numerical valuation of the content of the letter to the Ephesians – we would have to say – yes – Ephesians IS about love.  It’s about Christ’s love for us, and our love for Him, and our love for one another.

The LAST WORDS of Paul to the Ephesians and the LAST WORDS of Christ (through John) to the Ephesians are all about LOVE.

But, I want you to see one more subject that was repeated throughout Ephesians more than any other:

23 times Paul mentioned the name of Jesus Christ.  He spoke of God 31 times and referred to “the Lord” 15 times.

So Ephesians is about our relationship with God through Jesus Christ –it’s about His love for us, our love for Him, and our love for others because of His love to us.

Paul’s final words – His LAST WORDS,  in Ephesians 6:24 summarize this beautifully.  He says in Ephesians 6:24:

Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.

Follow along in my lecture as I explain that sincerity indicates that our love for the Lord is to be an undying love. We are not to let go of our first love.

By the way… the picture that I chose above represents – in my mind – the comments that I make at the end of my lecture!! We’ve been searching for the treasures in Ephesians… we’ve found them… and God has made us His treasures at the same time!
