Psalms 73 through 89 reveal the depth of pain and confusion that the Israelites experienced. These psalms ask hard questions. And God doesn’t answer them. So there is bewilderment. Suffering. Sorrow greater than any sorrow that has ever been experienced before.
These psalms give us guidelines on how to grieve.
- Express your pain through prayer
- Be honest about your pain
- Ask the hard questions
- Remember God’s character
- Remember God’s past acts of power
- Praise the Lord
When we cannot see the Lord, when grief clouds our vision, we must remember with whatever faith we have,, that the Lord is behind the clouds. He is there. And let us say as the psalmist said simply: BLESSED BE THE LORD FOREVER.
