It’s all about God! It’s not about us! But we sure do receive amazing blessings when God acts for His name’s sake.
God announces something brand new and shocking through Ezekiel. He makes a promise to the nation of Israel that He will change their hearts. He’s been telling His people for a long time that they needed a new heart. Now, He tells them exactly what He will do – for His name’s sake – to change them.
The old has got to go. That’s fantastic! Nobody needs a dead heart weighing them down.
Out with the old, and in with the new.
The heart transplant will be performed by the Lord Himself, since neither the Israelites (nor we) can bring about this miracle.
Ezekiel 36:26-27 says: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.”
This is the promise of the new covenant according to Ezekiel. There is more described in Jeremiah 31:31-34. Jesus inaugurated the new covenant and those who believe in Him are recipients of this heart transplant.
Don’t miss that this is all about God giving His Holy Spirit to those who believe in Jesus as their Savior.
There is no life, no Christian life, no eternal life, without the Holy Spirit regenerating someone.
I’ll talk about all this a lot more in the video below!
